The Mary Celeste is a pretty standard take on a Classic Milk Punch. Developing a cocktail that is fat washed with milk not only gives it an incredible mouth feel but more importantly prevents it from quickly spoiling. A shelf stable, finessed drink to say least.
The name “Mary Celeste” comes from an American merchant brigantine that was found adrift and deserted off the Azores islands. A ghost ship so to speak. Her cargo of alcohol was intact, and the captain’s and crew’s personal belongings were undisturbed. None of those who had been onboard were ever heard from again.
Similar to the ship, this cocktail is mysterious and full of booze.
